Allen, tenor sax Francesco Mariella, electric bass Francesco Guarnieri, drums  Il cd contiene 14 brani, 12 originali, A Lonely Woman di Horace Silver e We See di Thelonious Monk,oltre alla splendida opera di Peppo Spagnoli della cover ed il booklet interno di 8 pagine con l'ottimo lavoro grafico di Luigi Naro. 4 brani del cd sono in duo con il trombettista compositore Fabio Morgera, 2 composti insieme, registrati a Taranto la triste notte del 2 Aprile '05, infatti uno dei due è un omaggio a Papa Giovanni Paolo II ed abbiamo deciso di chiamarlo Karol, un brano nato ed improvvisato spontaneamente, non scritto. L'altro composto insiemeè invece interpretato con un mood opposto, tendente al free con dinamiche accentuate,dal titolo George. Deco, registrato a New York, apre il cd e, al tema d'ispirazione un pò Monkiana, segue uno splendido solo di flicorno. Nello studio del chitarrista Saul Rubin, sempre a Broadway, registrammo anche Come Mai, una mia composizione con Intro costruito sulla scala Balinese,suona come una ballad, interpretata liricamente dalla tromba con sordina di Fabio Morgera. C'è anche Without registrato in trio nel marzo 2002 con l' assolo particolare del contrabbassista Francesco Mariella sostenuto da un groove latino di Francesco Guarnieri alla batteria. Eruptions è l'unico dei miei originali del cd che ho registrato con un multitraccia, con piano, sintetizzatori,effetti, una song molto particolare ispiratomi da George Russell. Le altre tracks sono di pianosolo: 7th Avenue, nata in una passeggiata notturna per le strade di New York; In Major è un brano molto articolato con un Intro malinconico e sospeso a cui seguono un tema dal beat sostenuto ed un'improvvisazione dinamica; It's Ok, ritmico e veloce, poi c'è ancora Mondo Jazz ed il breve, lento # 3 che chiude il cd. E' tutto abbastanza originale vel'assicuro....e dimenticavo il fantastico assolo di J D Allen su Roxane, il terzo brano, di cui potete ascoltarne una parte alla pagina get music di questo sito. total time 52,48 min |
